Am I A Color Too? Continues to Win Big - October 23, 2007

Illumination Arts Publishing Company of Bellevue, Washington, is pleased to announce the most recent in a long series of prestigious honors for its 2005 release, Am I a Color Too? Written by Nancy Vogl and Heidi Cole and illustrated by Gerald Purnell, this children's picture book has been named a Gold Award Winner by the National Parenting Publications Awards. As a NAPPA winner, Am I a Color Too? will be recognized in 40 regional parenting magazines this holiday season, as well as on the web at www.NAPPA.Parenthood.com.

Other first place honors received by this inspirational picture book include: the Benjamin Franklin Award for Best Multicultural Book of the Year; the Christopher Foundation Award for Best Book for Young People; and the Wanda A. Gag Award granted to outstanding read-aloud books. Am I a Color Too? was also a finalist for the Independent Publisher Book Awards in the Multicultural category as well as the Coalition of Visionary Retailers' Best Children's Book award.

Am I a Color Too? is told through the eyes of Tyler, Cole's son and Vogl's grandson. The inspiration for this poetic book came when Tyler was three. After hearing people referred to as different colors, he asked his grandma an innocent question, "Am I a color?" This powerful book offers support and encouragement to children of all races, while exploring the essence of who we are as human beings.

Purnell is currently finalizing the illustrations for Illumination Arts' forthcoming book, God's Promise, scheduled for release on Christmas Day, 2007.
