"I love little yellow pear tomatoes!" exclaims the little girl in her garden. She marvels at the energy and collaboration it takes to grow her yellow pear tomatoes. She discovers the many intricate connections essential for growing the little fruits she loves so much.

Her daddy, her mommy, bugs and worms, clouds and sky, lakes and rivers, the sun and stars - are all parts of the tomato we cannot see. "Take away any one, and the little yellow pear tomatoes in my garden could not be."

The inspiration for this book came from the Zen teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh, as well as Demian's youngest daughter, Brhiannon, who really does love pear tomatoes.

Each of our inspirational, award-winning children’s books has been selected from among the many hundreds of submissions we receive each year. We then find the perfect artist, whose vision and talent are unleashed to create a brilliantly illustrated, award-winning children’s picture book. Little Yellow Pear Tomatoes won Skipping Stones Magazine's Honor Award for Nature and Ecology, and was a finalist for several other awards.
