About the Author
Charles Mathes earned his M.F.A. from Carnegie Mellon University as a Schubert Fellow of Playwriting. He began his eclectic career as a magician’s assistant, has worked as an editor, business manager, antique appraiser, and now manager of a prominent art gallery. Charles’s humor and unique outlook are reflected in his books, which include an acclaimed series of mystery novels.
About the Illustrator
Arlene Graston is a self-taught artist. Born in Reims, France, she apprenticed with Nina Ricci in Paris, as a fashion and jewelry designer. Since immigrating to America at age 22, Arlene has enjoyed a widely varied artistic career that includes designing and painting children's books, Broadway show posters, advertisements for companies such as Vogue and The New York Times, as well as writing television shows.
